Community Radio stations are to be challenged to a special problem-solving session during the National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference to be held at Ballarat in March.

The SCMA who organises the conference predicts the session will challenge stations attending to nominate issues that they face and then together with the rest of the conference work to solve them.

The President of the SCMA Helen Bath said the session will be just one of the many features of the 2012 Conference. It will be a great opportunity for stations to share their knowledge and assist each other to develop or to overcome some of the challenges that face us all.

Delegates will be asked to nominate the Big Issues they want to discuss during the first plenary session and they will be discussed in detail towards the end of the conference.

Helen Bath went on to say that these sessions will give members a great opportunity to ensure the topics and issues that most effect their stations will be discussed in a real down to earth problem solving session that will give all stations a chance to be part of providing each other with the assistance and support that the SCMA is well known for throughout its membership.

Planning for the 2012 conference is well underway and there is little doubt that the 2012 National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference an outstanding event with a focus on problem solving, support and growing the outstanding network that the SCMA is so well known for within community broadcasting. The SCMA is proud of the conferences ability to provide ample opportunity for community radio station members to be involved in understanding and discussing the issues confronting community radio.

The Conference will feature a wide range of information from organisations such as the ACMA and the CBF as well as individual presenters who are well known for their knowledge and expertise in many fields relevant to community broadcasting.

The National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference is just one of the highlights of the year planned for the SCMA.

National Conference Location and Dates Announced

The SCMA has released the dates and location of the 2012 National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference.

The 2012 conference will be held in the Historic City of Ballarat at a central CBD Location. The conference dates will be as follows:

Welcome BBQ Friday March 2nd 2012

Day 1 Conference Sat March 3rd 2012

Day 2 Conference Sun March 4th 2012

More information about the Venue and other details will be released in the next few weeks including exciting news about guest speakers and workshop topics.

The President of the SCMA Helen Bath said that the 2012 Conference will be something special. All Conference activities will be at the one Venue with Accommodation being just half a block away. Voice FM will be the host station and they are looking forward to welcoming delegates to the station for tours and the welcome BBQ.

It is all happening in Ballarat the home of Eureka and steeped in National History.

Start making plans to be at the National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference in March 2012 it promises to be a fantastic event.

X Award wining Audio Now Available on-line

The SCMA continue to meet their commitment to the entrants of the 2010 National Award for Excellence in Community Broadcasting “The X Awards”

The X Awards have been an integral part of the National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference for years. As part of the SCMA’s commitment to the entrants and attendees of the 2010 Conference the SCMA has released the winning audio grabs for the X Awards.

The X Awards are National awards recognising excellence in community broadcasting. The awards are presented every year at the National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference annual dinner on the Saturday night of the conference. The X Awards are open to any members of the SCMA and any non member station who attends the conference. Entries to the 2011 X Awards will open as of the 1st of July 2010 and as part of the SCMA’s commitment to its members will now be done online through mySCMA. In the first instance only member stations will be able to enter the X Awards on line with the non member portal opening for entries subject to conditions on November 1st 2010.

Press Release: Conference Is Trade Friendly

The 2010 National Regional, Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference is a trade friendly Conference.

Have you booked your Trade display Site for the 6th Annual National Regional, Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference in Wangaratta yet?

This year’s conference will see the high level of trade friendliness of previous  National Regional, Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference maintained. The organisers of this year’s conference have Maintained their commitment to the trade representatives. The emphasis is on making the conference a great experience for every one attending and ensuring the Trade representatives have great facilities.

The National Regional, Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference continues to grow and indications at this point say that this years conference will be the best attended so far with both Trade and delegate registrations rolling in. We are already seeing higher registrations for the conference that at this stage in previous years.

This year the Trade display area will remain separated from the workshop and plenary area of the conference. As usual this will give trade representatives the ability to conduct business and speak to delegates during workshops without any fears of interruption to the workshops. It will also allow delegates to miss workshops to meet and speak to trade representatives when they want to. The Trade area will once again be the food area of the conference and this will mean guaranteed traffic flow during all breaks and  allow Trade representatives to speak to delegates during meal breaks as well as delegates who want to have a quiet word while the conference it’s self is going on.

Here are some of the great features of the trade aspect of this years conference that Trade Display representatives will enjoy at the conference this year:

The Conference registration are is within the trade area and delegates will not have access to the conference area until 15 minutes prior to the opening of the conference this means that during the registration process delegates will be free to wander the trade area and speak to trade representatives.

The very successful and popular drinks with the Trade will once again be conducted in the trade. Drinks with the trade is on Saturday afternoon again giving the trade area increased delegate traffic flow and a chance to speak with delegates in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Trade Companies that register for this years National Regional, Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference will have their Company logo added to the Conference website to let delegates and people considering attending that their company will be represented at this years conference.

Trade Companies attending this years National Regional, Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference will also be able to submit a description of what they will have at the conference. This will be added to the conference program as well as the web site and the pre conference newsletter

Once again there is also the very popular trade forum workshop where trade representatives and delegates get together in a workshop environment and talk technical. Trade delegates from previous years have been very impressed with this opportunity to speak to delegates as part of the conference.

Plenty of rooms Available for the National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference

There have been rumors circulating that there are no accommodation available at the 2010 conference venue or within the township of Wangaratta. Having just been in touch with the conference venue and tourism Wangaratta I can assure you that the rumor is far from the truth.

When booking at the conference Venue “The Wangaratta Gateway” please ensure that you tell them that you are booking in for the conference. The Gateway has rooms put aside for conference delegates and there are still more than 20 rooms available for both Friday March 12th and Saturday March 13th. We recommend that if you wish to stay at the conference venue you book in as soon as possible.

There is also a wealth of alternative accommodation available close to the conference venue. If you visit the associations website here there are links to both the Gateway and Tourism Wangaratta to see what accommodation is available.

The 6th National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference is shaping up to be the best yet with members and non members alike registering for this years conference.

National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference schedule released on the Web

Following on from the relaunch of the Southern Community Media Associations new website yesterday the Association has released the schedule of events for the 2010 National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference.

Some of the featured speakers at this years event will be the ACMA speaking about the code of conduct and sponsorship guidelines, David Wilson will return to speak about succession planning and marketing your station, Michael Mcfeeters will conduct a session on Technical made simple, the CBF have two workshops plus many more speakers on many topics will be at the conference. There will be all the usual features of the conference such as drinks with the trade, the welcome BBQ and the Conference dinner and X Awards.

All of this and a whole lot more and all included in the affordable conference registration fee. There are no extras and no hidden costs for delegates.
